Amalika, Indian gooseberry or Amla (as it is widely known) is one of the most important and most useful deciduous trees. Having Amla is a key to a healthy and charming body which lacks any diseases. AMALAKI
It is a deliduous tree and comes in home of Phyllanthacae. It comes under the kingdom of Plantae of phyllanthus genus which attributes for its binomial name which is Phyllanthus emblica. Amalaki tree even has a digestive fruit by same name. It derives from Sanskrit word amalika which is not so small or large in size, being 8m in height. Apart from medical uses it is very significant in Hindu mythology as according to scriptures lord Vishnu dwells there and it is celebrated on Amalaka Ekadishi.

It is believed that it came on earth when a drop fell from pot which contained Amrit due to a fight that occurred between Devas and Asuras during samudra manthan. Branch is somewhere around 9 - 18 inches long with yellow-green flowers. Its fruit amla, is one of the most important fruit that helps in treating wide range of diseases as has been already mentioned above. Several medical researches have taken place and it is usually credited with miraculous properties, being antimicrobial and antiviral one of them.

It is considered as holy in India due to its therapeutic effects and is helpful in treating many cures related to hair and eye care, in the absorption of calcium, infection, increasing metabolic activity and diuretic activity (related to urinary disorders), treats menstrual cramps, diabetes, digestion, heart diseases, eliminates radicals that are released while intake of oxygen that is associated with aging, helps in releasing unwanted toxins that are accumulated in the body, helps in cardiac related issues, home remedy for diarrhea and dysentery, helps in increasing the appetite and is very helpful during fever.

Amalaki is used from ancient times in India and other civilizations. It is primarily sour, with many secondary tastes like bitter, pungent and sweet. It is hardly unusual as according to Ayurveda it has five tastes from the six recognized tastes. It is also considered important due to its cooling effect on one's pitta, also it helps in rejuvenation of skin, age and hair. It helps in ailing diseases like constipation, asthma, myopic or metropic eyes. It has a magical effect on increasing one's intellect. It is used in culinary as well. It is used in shampoos and is also used in fixing dyes which is used in fabrics.

Its various uses are attributed to it due to the presence of Vitamin C content that is considered vital. It also contains chromium which helps in diabetes. It contains more than 78% of water and many minerals. It helps in treating acne, due to its anti-oxindant properties. In short, it is nothing less than a divine fruit which if taken daily, gives you a healthy and prosperous lifespan.
