Sharpunkha containing  formulations  are  prescribed  in  Ayurveda  mainly  as  liver  correctives  and  restoratives. They  contain  aqueous  or  alcoholic  extracts  of Sharpunkha.  They  are  found  to  be  effective  in  treating  various disorders like Viral hepatitis, Pre-cirrhotic conditions, Protein energy malnutrition, Radiation and chemotherapy induced liver damage.
