10 Ways to Keep Allergies at Bay

Allergies come in seasons. If you are experiencing some reactions today, you are not alone. The good thing is that you can take measures to reduce the effect of allergies on your body. Allergies can either be seasonal or triggered by foods and the environment. Seasonal allergies are a result of pollen from grass, trees, and weeds. Read on to discover some of the ways of keeping allergies at bay.

Keep Your Windows Closed

Pollen is more concentrated in the day than at night. During the day, let your windows and doors remain closed. You also need a special filter for your windows to hold allergens.

Know what triggers your reaction. Most people do not understand what causes their reactions. You might think it is your pet only for you to realize it's the pollen carried by the pets.

Put on Mask

Walking is a great exercise if you take short walks in the evening, take an antihistamine before you leave the house. If you are to lawn the garden, put on a mask to prevent inhaling the pollen grains. The N95 mask is the most recommended, but you can use any other as long as it serves the purpose.

Stay Clean

It would be awesome if you freshened up every time you come to the house. Change your clothes and clean your clothe masks. Make sure that your walk clothes are different from home clothes. When you take a shower, remember to wash your head too.

You also need to ensure that you change your bedsheets and blankets regularly. Use hot water to wash them because hot water kills allergens and microbes. It would be best if you also used dust mite-proof covers for pillows and mattresses. Use a coverlet to cover your bed and furniture. If you are working at the office, make sure to keep your desk clean off the dust.

Beware of Your Nutrition

In your meals, avoid products that trigger allergies. Include dark berries, Chilli, ginger, and green tea in your diet.

Steer Away from Molds

Some people react to molds, whether inside or outside. Make sure to keep mildew away from your home. This can be done by wiping away any water in the bathroom or shower area.

Drink Lots of Water

Dehydration aggravates allergies. Increase your water intake to keep your body hydrated too.

Wash Your Pets

Wash your pets regularly. Make sure that you keep them away from your bed and furniture. Put in mind that pets also carry dust and allergens, which are the leading cause of allergies.

Keep Your Clothes Clean

Natural materials are better than synthetic materials. Wash your clothes and keep them clean. Use clothes that cover your whole body to avoid coming into contact with pollen and dust.

Use Mild Cosmetics

Cleansers, hygiene products, and cosmetics should be mild. Make sure that they are hypoallergenic. Do not buy substandard products.

Use Aloe vera

Aloe vera is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is also an antioxidant. Apply fresh aloe vera juice or gel to your itchy skin. It accelerates healing. You can incorporate olive oil, tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil too. You can also use essential oils individually.
